The Proof Is In The Pudding

April 28, 2012 in christian thought

I grew up hearing my parents say “the proof is in the pudding”. I would roll my eyes whenever they say this, as i thought it was just another old wives proverb that was not applicable to contemporary society. Whenever I wanted to get on their last nerve I would say “Ha…. the proof is in the pudding!”

Well, what do you know? Here I am an adult and a Christian, and everyday I wake up and think of God’s mercies, His grace and His never failing love, I say The Proof Is Indeed In The Pudding.

Psalm 34:8 says, “Oh taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.” Looking from the outside, one will not fully understand the unfailing love God has for us and His divine yearning for a relationship with us. Oh, but when you taste salvation, our lives become a living testimony and there is proof of His transforming power.

Like a pudding placed in 350 degrees to bakes, we Christians go through extreme situations where we question God our Living Water. Lets be reminded that it is when we taste hardship, when we taste persecution, and when we taste suffering we are able to prove God’s power and our testimony becomes sure.

Yes, the proof is in the pudding, it is in the pudding of salvation, the pudding of joy, the pudding of despair, the pudding of tears and the pudding of laughter. No matter how the pudding tastes, be assured that God will make something beautiful (and delicious) out of every circumstance. Be blessed.

  1. Wisely said Syd. Great entry! Experience has also taught me that and sometimes the lesson was tough but in the end it did reveal that the proof of God’s mercies were definitely in the pudding of His Word. Thanks for those timely words.
